Newest Update for iPhone fails to open.
I updated to the newest version of runkeeper Pro this morning (v2.3.4.0) which incorporates the Fitness Classes feature, but now Runkeeper Pro won't even open on my iPhone 3GS.
I opens to the splash screen and then quits.
I tried starting from a cold boot, and nothihg seems to work.
How can i Revert back to the previous version that worked?
Please fix this urgently!

This happened to me, too.
For now, I've had to uninstall RK Pro, and reinstall it via App Store.
Sadly I've lost all my progress in my phone. But now it works :/
(Using it on an iPhone 4, if that matters)

We are looking into it now. other users are reporting that a delete reinstall will fix the issue in the meantime

But if I delete, I have to pay again?
7 Posted by doodie111 on 07 Oct, 2010 12:15 AM
Won't have to pay again. App store recognises existing purchases and reinstalls free of charge.

If you delete and reinstall you lose all your runs?
9 Posted by luizpeixoto on 07 Oct, 2010 12:18 AM
I think the runs are stored into your profiles in the website...

Is there any way to restoer the data from the web back to the phoe after reinstalation?
13 Posted by Mike on 07 Oct, 2010 12:30 AM
Deleting and reinstalling the app will stop the app from crashing on start up but it will delete the activities from the phone. Activities on your web profile will still be safe on the web.
Another fix in the time being would be revert to the previous version of the app from the app store.

What kind of timeline are we looking at for a fix to this problem? I am not keen on deleting and reinstalling the application as I like having my data in the app.
Since the common advice when there is a problem is to reinstall the app, I would suggest a priority update is the ability to pull the information back from the website.

we are working on a fix tonight. it will be submitted to the app store asap

for those effected by this crash we have a question for you.
when you loaded the app, did it crash right away or did it take a while to load and then it crashed before the load finished?
thanks for the help.

also, if anyone has crash logs, please attach then to this support thread.

How's does something like this make it to release? It doesn't bother me too much to lose my data on the phone but it is an unnecessary inconvenience to say the least. Maybe a feature to be added is the ability to sync data from web to phone?
Mine crashed right away.
iPhone 4 (non-jailbreak) iOS 4.1

mine crashed too, and i lost all my data on the phone on reinstall ... i agree, it would be ideal to be able to sync the web data back to my phone so i can have all that info available to me when i launch the app.

Mine crashes right away too, but you can still see the Splash screen for a second or 2.
iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1.
Web to phone sync (and vice versa) would be an excellent addition to the app.
Some sort of Backup/Restore would be awesome.

How do you access the crash logs?
22 Posted by Mike on 07 Oct, 2010 01:11 AM
this issue is cause our app updates itself when the app store sends the updates to the phone. the testing environment doesn't let us test this.
we will fix the issue soon.
thanks

I just updated and know it won't open just the splash screen and crash. It never opened at all. I don't know how to revert to the older version. I do not want to lose my activities on my phone I rarely log onto my PC.

we can recreate the issue. hoping to get a fix out to the app store queue ASAP

I just deleted my app on my iPhone 3g and reinstalled it. It worked. The only issue is that I lost all my activities. At least the runkeeper app is working again.

Bug found, fixed, and we are now submitting the fix to the app store queue. We'll also contact Apple in hopes they will expedite this release.
sorry for the inconvenience
We will review our testing process and look for ways to prevent this issue from occurring on future app release.
again, sorry for the inconvenience and thank you all for your help.

I'm not sure I can take any more failed "upgrades." I like your app, but these reliability issues are driving me away.
31 Posted by neal on 07 Oct, 2010 02:45 AM
I wish I'd known that sync was one-way only. I'd never have deleted the app and data off my iPhone to get it working. I figured RK has been a reliable app so surely there was 2-way sync.
Any possiblity of providing web-->app sync as "make-up" for releasing buggy software?
