Here are some further details on our Goals feature:
I love goals! However, after I completed a goal, I can't see the graph showing progress over time anymore. Can that be fixed?
Goal setting is not working correctly, you choose a starting date and ending date. Then click next and it changeds the ending date clear into 2014. Really like this app, only been using it for about a week but already this glitch and a glitch with calories etc loading from phone to computer...seems to be alot of inaccuracies....
Can you edit the start and end dates?
You should be able to view past goal charts, but there appears to be a bug with your account. Thanks for pointing this out. Team is taking a closer look at your issue.
Can you send us a link or screenshot to your incorrectly dated goal? We don't have any known issues with end date, so, was hoping to take a closer look at your issues.
Unfortunately, you cannot edit start/end date or any other component of goals. Right now, you'll basically have to create a new goal to meet the dates that work best for you.
I would like to be able to add more than one goal per category at once, for example I have a 5K and two centuries coming up but I can only add one race at a time.
I can't seem to set that I completed a goal that I set... how am I supposed to show that I completed the Triathlon I raced in?
I am still unable to delete goals.
Could someone tell me where the goal chart or "grey X" is to be found?
I added a cycling goal but it seems since I'm using a mountain bike it states mountain biking goals can't be plotted. I'm not sure. Can someone clarify that point?
I just want to EDIT my current goal. I put my first goal to "run 3 miles by October 15", but really what I want the graph to reference is for me to be able to run 3 miles with out stopping. Not a cumulative range. >>>HOW DO I EDIT MY GOAL??
It seems like the goal graph is not calculating my trips correctly. I set a goal for cycling 170 km from August 6th to September 2nd. I have cycled 19 km but the goal graph shows that I have finished only 4%. I marked the activity as cycling.
It also does not show all the activities I have done. The graph just shows two of the three trips that I have finished.
I'd love to set a goal in skating, could it be added? Thanks a lot, Runkeepers! ;-)
Love to see mountain biking as a goal, I ride both mountain and road and would like goals for both
Setting races as goals doesn't seem to be working. At least my half marathon goal is showing as incomplete even though the race was tracked. Am I missing a step? I'd like to make sure it gets the full marathon I'm doing in a couple months.
Tyne, it took me a while to find this out too.... I had to specify the activity as the event (same as assigning an activity to a route...). Click on the activity, and look below the map to where you see "Route"... then you can select the race to the right of the route.
Whoa, thanks! I would never have found that on my own!
I completed a goal in the last date. In my feeds, it shows my last run as part of my goal but my goal seems incomplete. How can I fix it?
you guys should add a goal time category (ie 5K under 20 minutes)
I have the same problem as Sigurdur Bragason, total distance within goal period is aprox 17,2 km out of 150 km but graph says 6 km, 4%... other than that, I really like the app and website
I want an older activity to count toward a current goal. Dennis Keohane from Runkeeper mentioned I can manipulate the start date of the goal. Can someone help give directions on how to do so? Thanks!
I really love the goals but unfortunatly they're a bit limited. For example I really miss the possibility to add goals for my mountainbiking activities. The app supports 13 types of activities (14 including 'other' ). Why is it only possible to add goals for 4 types of activities? I also think it's a pity that not all goals can be marked as private. I set a goal for myself, not for my streetteam. I hope more possibilities will be added soon.
I worked toward a goal twice in one day, but only one of the days is recorded toward the goal. How can I combine them for that day?
The goal feature doesn't seem to be working properly. I set a goal on Sunday, ran Monday and my mileage was added to my weekly goal. Then I ran this morning and the miles have not been updated into my goal.
In Goals 101 you said - To delete a goal, you must visit the website and click the gray X mark in the top right of your goals chart.
But I can't see any goal charts?
Corey, Looking at your goals chart, it appears that your goal from this morning did not count towards your completion % b/c the activity on Monday was closer to the 9 mile run goal. This goal only pertains to a single activity, but if you'd like to complete 9 miles cumulatively by September 3, you should setup a different type of goal.
Thanks and let us know how we can help.
Hi, Why is using a stationary bike (i.e in the gym or spinning class) not counting towards my cycling goal? Thanks
Completed goals is still showing as incomplete,
Could u fix it please
I tried the Goal feature by setting a goal of 150 km cumulative walking distance with August 1st as start date and August 31st as end date.
The 101 above states :"Goals officially expire at midnight (local time) the following day of your 'End Date.' For instance, you will have until August 2nd at 12AM to complete a goal set for August 1st."
But this morning, August 31st I got the message that I missed the goal. The day of August 31st set as end date wasn't included!!
Very disappointed :((
I set a modest goal to run 85 km in the month of August....as of the 31st I had 10 km to go so I braved rain and snow to make my last 10 km up by 6pm on the 31st. However, nothing registered on my goal progress yet it clearly shows that I have run 85km for the month? Now I have an incomplete goal that I'm a bit disappointed about.....really want to show that I have achieved my goal. Can this be fixed? Or why did this happen?
On 30 Aug I set a walking goal spanning 01 Sep-30 Sep to cumulative walk 100M. On 01 Sep (between 0300hrs-0500hrs) I walked 6.38M towards that goal but it does not show up on my goal progress. Yet the weight goal I set for the same span does show the entry I made. Is this going to show up on 02 Sep? Thanks.
I think I may have sorted out the problem.....the goals are set to be completed "by" a specific date. Thus, if you put down that you want to finish 50 km by the 31st of October - it actually has to done as of the end of the 30th. I believe that the semantics of the program do not include the "by" date. Soooo, if you want to set a target for a month, you need to choose the first of the following month as the "by" date.
@ Martin - I imagine that you would have put in 8 miles by the 2nd of September, for example, with your second run being the on the 2nd. However, as this was the "by" date, it did not include that run.
This is my explanation for the problem. For this month I have adjusted my goal to be 120km by the 1st of October so whatever I do on the last day of September will be counted....I'll let you know how it works.
@Bruce: Thanks Bruce, that solved it! - I deleted the original goal and set end date as 3rd of September and yep all correct. really appreciate that :)
im having an issue with the goals, can i only add to the goal one instance per day, over the last 2 days i have done 4 separate activites but only the first one every day posted shows both times in the graph? am i doing something wrong? its like the 2 activites in the afternon dont exist even though they are also in my runkeper GUI.
Goals aren't working as described. I had a goal set for August 31st and finished my goal the afternoon of the 31st. It's showing that the goal is incomplete. If you go through my profile, you can see the last walk was on the 31st. If you check my goal, it still says 15 of 18 miles walked, goal incomplete. I had 15/18 after the walk the day before - on the 30th. My goal was 18 miles for the month of August and though I know I did exactly 18 miles, I don't get the satisfaction of seeing "Goal Complete". At this point, I'm wondering what the point of goal setting is, if the app isn't going to work properly. I shouldn't have to figure out a work around to get the goals to work. Either give instructions on how to use it effectively or fix the code to work the way it's described.
Hi - I set a goal for cycling and none of the cycling activities and miles that I've logged are appearing in my goal, what gives? I'm logged in and out, I've deleted and recreated the goal and it's still not working at all, can some one help me out?
In complete agreement with Stephane from his comment on Aug 20, 2012. Would appreciate seeing time linked with a distance goal. I've "achieved" my distance goal from Day 1, but much prefer to see progress in achieving a specific time goal related to that distance. While it's not hard to keep track of time goals mentally, it would be a valuable feature for your app where users can record and track their (time) progress more easily. It's just nice to see it all in one place. Many thanks.
Also having a problem, that sometimes completed activities are not taken into account of my goals set. So for example last Thursday, as a 1km swim and a 4km walk just didn't appear in my goal statistic. Walk today was taken into account. No idea, what the problem might be, activities were correctly titeled, goals as well. Please fix.
blafasel, I am having the same problem; set a goal of walking 100 miles in month of September; I have walked 21 miles but the goal chart only shows 4% complete. If I remember my math correctly from school, 20 miles would be 1/5th or 20% of 100.
Why are all of us having problems with our activities not being applied to our goals? Please fix, DITTO!!
I set a goal to be completed by September 9th. I did complete the goal on September 9th, but it is showing up as incomplete! Not very gratifying, I've been looking at that progress bar for months. Now that it should show as complete, it does not.
Hi, I have the same problem as Ken. I have completed the Medoc marathon on september 8th, but the goal is set to incomplete. Can you check this ?
How do I let Runkeeper know that I completed my goal? How do I log that I completed my sprint triathlon I was training for? HELP??
Me again: Sorry, just realized, that I didn't enter a "cumulative distance" but just a "distance" to walk. No wonder it only took the highest distance into account and left the others out. So deleted the old goals and set new ones with total distance to achive. Worked! My mistake.
Thank you blafasel, I just went and checked and I was doing the same thing! Now i have got it fixed too!!
Thanks for posting what was wrong so I could realize I made same mistake!!
Help! My Half Marathon goal is incomplete, but my activity is linked to the Half marathon race. How can i make the goal complete?
would love to edit my starting date for my annual goal! have done a lot of activities before i set the goal.
please combine cycling and mountain biking.
@ Niko Nagl:
When you enter a new goal you can set a start date that is in the past (for example january 1, 2012). All activities since then will be included into your goal.
Please don't combine cycling and mountainbiking but include setting seperate mountainbiking goals.
@jordi: great thank you, now it works! i better had found out by myself :-)
@runkeeper: cumulative goal and the user should choose what kind of activities should be taken into account. so everyone can choose if it wants only cycling or only mtg or both :-)
I am having problems with goals not including runs made on the date that the goal ends. For example, this week my goal end date was September 16. I ran this morning, but the run was not included in the goal. Why is that??? Your notes above indicate that "Goals officially expire at midnight (local time) the following day of your 'End Date.' For instance, you will have until August 2nd at 12AM to complete a goal set for August 1st." Based on that, Runkeeper should have included the run I did this morning with the goal that ended today. Am I missing something here?
Hi, I set a goal with a future start date, and indeed my activities did not count toward that goal until after that date had been reached- good. However, the indicators and chart imply that the date I set the goal is the start date, they graph everything from that date- makes me look lazy at the start !
I have the same problem as @Ute and @Simon, I had a race goal to complete a 10K by Sept 16th. I ran the 10K on Sept 16th and linked the run to the race however the goal still shows as incomplete. Please help.
I have a distance goal and am well within the date. I have done multiple runs on previous days and all of those have gone to the total. I yesterday one of my runs didn't register toward it. I got a notification saying I was 75% complete (which I should be), but when you look at the goal page it actually says 69% and is missing that run. How do I fix that?
the system will not allow me to have more than one race as a race goal. I have 4, possibly 5 races on my calender this winter...
BLAH... I just figured it out the cause of one of these problems. When making a goal, if we put our End Date as the 22nd, RK labels the goal as "I want to . . . by the 23rd." In other words, we have to finish the goal by MIDNIGHT of the 22nd, or before the 23rd. It's confusing because the data listed is actually the next day, the 23rd in this case. Intuitively, if I say I want to achieve something by the 22nd, I expect the 22nd to pop up as my goal date. It's strange the way it is set up now. When we set long-term goals (as I did), we might lose track of the actual end date until we learn the hard way (which I did). Many people consider a "by" date to be inclusive, that is the last date on which you will be able to do something.
RK, how about cleaning up the language a little to clear up this confusion? In the explanation at the top of the page, you can easily make that a LOT clearer simply by elaborating your example a little, and in your actual graphics throughout, you can simply say ". . . before the 23rd" or ". . . by the 22nd." Then, no one would think that the 23rd might be the last day they can do it. I'm not saying "by" is wrong, but it can be confusing where "before" is not.
At any rate, you will certainly make a lot more friends by having any confusion cause people to have an extra day to achieve their goals than to have one less day than they expected!
Any word from Runkeeper on updating our goals? Mine says that I am only 9% to completing my goal when I am almost 50% to my goal??
Set a goal to cycle for 10 miles by Sep 13th, nothing big, just testing the new goals thing. On Sep 7th I cycled for 25 miles. Yet, I did not complete my goal. what gives?
Had a goal to complete a 7.5k run. Did 8k before the deadline but the goal is marked as uncompleted. Anyway to rectify this?
My goal to complete a half marathon by 9/23/12 was completed and is not marked as complete can that be fixed and how??????
I set a goal to run 67 miles from July 25 to August 26, 2012. I don't understand why it says I didn't meet my goal. When I add up the miles I ran, it comes up to 77.88 miles. What am I missing?
Bug: When I click "invite supporters", the pop-up comes up and it just spins. I've left it for several minutes and it stays in essentially a loading mode as if it's looking for people to allow me to select from. I've tried it in both Firefox and Chrome...same result.
What's wrong with the goals? I completed my 200km for September with an extra run tonight. And now runkeeper says I missed my goal.
I had a goal to complete a race... I did the race (a triathlon), I have manually entered the activities and it shows the goal as incomplete! WHY???
Hi and thanks for a great App! But I have to join the complainers above. I had set a goal to run 14 km and did that today. The graph says that the goal is 100% completed and my activity states that I ran 14 km, but my activity log says that my goal is now 90% completed. As I stopped the activity at exactly 14 km, could it be a calculation problem, so that my run has been registered as 13.99 km or someting? Please check your algorithms and make sure that exact values are rounded to the next higher value, making sure that you are not deprived of your succes!!! ;)
I created a goal on the website, this then showed up on my phone. I did a 5 mile run on a treadmill, entered this onto my phone and this has updated the website but it has not updated the goal. I deleted the activity and then manually entered this on the website but still not updating the goal. Is there anyway to force this goal to be updated? Thanks. BTW this is not the first time that i have had problems with a new goal.
As per my previous post where my goal was not being updated I have now fixed this issue myself. I deleted the goal and then reset it up but rather than using today's date I set the goal to start from yesterday. It now has updated with the distance that I ran earlier on today.
Mountain Biking activities are not included in a Cycling Goal. Couldn't you include it please, so that mountain bikers can set goals and see their progress as well?
Do treadmill runs count towards a running goal?
Hope you can help. I set a goal of running 16k by the end of october. I ran 16.2 then stopped the app as i was half dead!! Even though my app has recorded I ran the full 16k my goal shows as being 99% complete. My knees are shot after it so I won't be able to re do until next month so I will effectively not reach my goal..even though i exceeded it. Any ideas?
Hi - I had two goals set on my profile to run a marathon and then a half marathon by certain dates; I have done both of these and tagged them using the official race name but my goals are stating 'incomplete' what do I need to do to change this please?
Also I am having trouble viewing screens and have to change my screen size to 75% to fit everything on; do I need to change something to view the website properly?
So - like many others, I achieved a goal (ran a 10 mile race) but it is showing as incomplete. I apparently missed it by one day due to the date I entered. So I went back and changed the date to be a day earlier but it still says 'incomplete' on my profile. Am I stuck now, no way to fix this?
Bummer, I cannot share the goal I achieved on facebook.
And the lady taking time and destination didn't even congratulate me!!!
Yesterday I completed the Amsterdam half-marathon but my goal (which indeed was "to run in a half-marathon race") shows as incomplete. On the other hand, if I click on the Race tab, I see the Amsterdam half-marathon event as completed (?!?)
I completed a race to meet my goal but the race is not shown in Runkeeper, so I can't join it online. How do I record that I met my goal?
How do I share a completed goal on Facebook ? I recently completed my distance goal and would to post the achievement on my FB page. Thanks !
Hello guys, well?
Please, my GPS was crazy and finish my goal before marking a long km. How I re-open this goal?
i finnished a goal but got nothing for doing so ? it reads did not finninh , wrong answer ~ RAN A 5K ,TOOK 3RD OVERALL & WON MY AGE GROUP 50 & OVER , I AM 59 YRS O0LD ! THIS RACE WAS IN EMPORIA KANSAS , DATE OF : OCT 27TH 2012 i don't believe this app is very human friendly ~~~~
Hello I set a goal (cumulative distance) to be completed by 31st October. Completed the last run on 30th October and the chart says 100% on 30 October. However the goal is listed under 'Incomplete goals'. WTF? This sucks.
I added a goal and I'm the only one that can view it. I've tried clicking on the lock key, but nothing happens. Is there a way to unlock so my street teem can also view my progress?
Hi, I have a simple walking goal and for some reason a lot of my recent walks (all logged by my iPhone) are not getting added to my goal. It seems weird - as the walks are there under Activities but they don't show up on my goal, which is stuck at 4%
I also would like to set several goals in the same category. For example a "cumulative distance" of XX km in the next month and another XX km in the next two months and another XX km in the next whole year.
That would be really nice and should not be a that big technical problem ;)
I have a suggestion when it comes to goals. As many users above described, the current goals are pretty clumsy. What i'd really like to see is Personal Records.
Best time/average pace over 400m / 1000m / 5k /10k etc
Best total distance over a set time. As in ' X meters in 12 minutes' (Coopertest) etc.
Make these personal records in to rankings with my streetteam.
Make it a Runkeeper Elite feature for all I care, because that is something I'd be willing to pay for.
Just my 2 cents.
I'm running my first 5K today. On the website it correctly shows that it's 1 hour and 27 minutes until the race starts (gulp). However on the app it shows 23 hours and 26 minutes and is going up. The time and date are correct on my iPhone so I'm not sure why it's wrong.
+1 to Arthi Ramesh's comment. Same problem here.
Hello. I am trying to do a few things:
1. complete a goal to run a race (did the Veteran's Day 10k on11/11/12). I can't seem to get my goal of run a race to marry that race.
2. Bring my finish data into the VD10k race results area that other RK users ran, as well.
3. Set my goals to be the races I run. Granted I am a rookie, so if it's a simple user error issue, please forgive. Thank you.
Hi Runkeeper,I set a goal for a 10KM run and it won't add the activitys i run in the chart, it just replaces the last one. I already deleted one goal and created a new one, but it keeps doing the same.Greetings,
I set a have a goal that shows 100% but is displayed as an incomplete goal. Is there anyway this could be fixed please?
Hi - I've just noticed that my goal to run a race by November 5th is showing as incomplete but I did run a race on that date which Runkeeper has picked up. I'm pretty sure I linked goal and race up, is there anything that can be done? I'm really proud of running my first race and it'd be great to see that as a completed goal for motivation.
No response from Runkeeper since August - nice one guys - glad my Elite membership is working out!
I set a goal to run the Turkey Trot which is tomorrow. It not only posted it 3 times it posted that I have already completed them and the race isn't until tomorrow. I then deleted 2 of the completed activvities and they still show as being completed. What the F*&K. Round and Round this site takes you.
I am trying like mad to 'complete' my goal that I set for today, 11/22/12. I said I wanted to complete a 10k (done - go me!) and I can't seem to complete the goal on my page. Can you help me? Or is it something I am doing wrong? I hate that it says incomplete goal. Bugs me. :)
When I set a (walking) goal, it will not allow me to set the start and end dates. The only information I can enter is the accumulated mileage that I wish. When I click "next" it sets up the goal with an end date about a month in the future, not the date I wished to end on.
I am missing miles to go towards my activity goal. This morning I did a 5.79 mile walk and then tonight I did a 1.78 walk but only the 2 miles/22 are being accounted for. How do i fix this???
Hi is there a problem with the activity goal diagram because its not updating my activities.
I wish I had read this jumbled mess before. Now I know why my goals that I invariably complete on last day, never get completed...this has to be the most idiotic bug...so many people here push themselves to the limit (me included) and achieve the goal on the last day only to be bitterly disappointed that whatever they did on last day is actually not counted. If anyone from RK even reads this - this gotta be fixed like NOW !!
I agree. I am so disappointed with the goals feature of RK that I have stopped setting goals for the month. I work really hard to meet them when I set them and twice before it completely messed it up for me. Even though I still use RK to log in my walks, goals are out.
I ran a half marathon on April 28 of this year and was relatively new to run keeper. I also set the goal of running a half marathon on this day and thought it would pick up my distance and count it as having run the race. Obviously this is not how it works and now I have to look at a sad incomplete goal on my home page, knowing I actually completed it. I have since associate my run that day with the marathon, but my incomplete goal still stands. Is there any way to fix this and mark it complete?
