iPhone 5s and newer should work with any heart rate monitors that follow the BTLE standard. Notable HRMs in this group include: Polar H7/H10, Wahoo Blue HR, Mio Link, and Zyphyr.
iPhones may work with ANT+ compatible heart rate monitor if you are using a Wahoo ANT+ attachment. ANT+ is an old technology that is not supported by Runkeeper on iPhone, but there is a possibility that these devices will work. We use the Wahoo Library to connect your heart rate monitor to your iPhone. If your specific device is available on the Wahoo Library, then there is a chance it will work with Runkeeper for your iPhone!
Our Android app supports all standalone Polar HRMs, including HRMs with BTLE capabilities (on Runkeeper version 4.6 or later). Make sure to check with the HRM manufacturer to double check that your specific phone is supported before purchasing. If your phone is supported and your HRM follows the standard for BTLE, it should be supported!
*ANT+ devices are NOT supported on Runkeeper for Android. Android does not use the Wahoo Library to sync with your HRM, and therefore does not provide support for ANT+ devices on Runkeeper for Android.
Note: the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Note II will only pair if you're running OS 4.4.2 or later and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus does not support BTLE technology.
