On Runkeeper, you can create four types of goals that best meet your fitness and running needs:
1. Achieving a cumulative distance (Total Distance)
- Run, bike, walk or swim a cumulative distance by a set date
- Ex. Bike a total of 50 miles by August 1, 2022
2. Finishing a race
- Complete a running, cycling, walking or triathlon race
- Set the race day by using the 'End Date' option
- Ex. Run a Half Marathon on August 19, 2020
3. Weight Loss
- Input your current weight
- Set your target weight
- Set the end date to determine the time remaining to complete your goal
- Ex. Lose 10 pounds by August 30, 2020
4. Achieve a Target Distance For a Single Activity (Longest Distance)
- Run, bike, walk or swim the longest distance by a set date
- Ex. Complete a 1-mile swim by November 1, 2020
If you're having trouble with a cumulative distance goal where your activities are not adding to your progress, make sure that you have chosen the correct Goal type and did not choose a Target Distance Goal. You cannot set multiple goals within the same category

I set a cycling goal but I'm showing zero progress after a 11kM ride. Is it because I chose Mountain biking as the activity?
That's correct Lorne. Sorry for the confusion, but you must designate the activity as **Cycling **for it to be included in your biking goal.
Thanks for the quick response Chas. Too bad that cycling doesn't cover mountain biking but that's okay it was only my first trip out so I'm only behind 11kM from my goal. :)
Hi, thanks for the goal feature. But if I may just suggest on the Weight Loss Plan, if you could make it more generic or at least provide options for us who are trying to GAIN weight rather than the opposite. As it is, I have to awkwardly set my goal as a double negative: lose negative 6.8kgs. Thanks
I would like to set a goal to participate in a Spartan Race. The one I am entered in is 12 miles and have obsticles along the way. One way to aloow this would be to prompt for text when selecting 'Other'.
How do you change your weight loss goal from one date to another? I can't seem to find the goals on runkeeper here. Would you mind directing me on this.
Can you please add the ability to create more complex and useful goals. For example, it would be great to specify not just the distance but also the pace and/or avg hr for that distance. Distance alone is not very useful or motivating to measure one's improvement in conditioning.
It would be really great if I could set a goal for Mountain Biking, as I only do trail riding. Also, if walking and hiking could be combined into a goal it would be nice. I feel like I'm still walking while I'm hiking so it would make sense that those two could share a goal.
i have made a walking goal, 40km until the 8th of august but today for example i walked 7 km and it is not put to my walking goal. why doesn't it work? last week I also tried to make a goal but only one of my walking activities was send to my goal distance. it's kind of frustrating. please anyone could tell me how to integrate my activities into the goals distance. thanks!
It would be great to be able to set a cumulative distance goal for Mountain Biking.
It would great to be able to set a time goal for a specified route. I often ride the same route and am trying to do it under a certain time, getting a few minutes closer each trip. Setting a goal to ride a specific route in under xx:xx and then showing progress towards that goal would help with motivation!
I would love my race goal (marathon) to be able to include a time, as I've done one,but I want to run the next one much faster :)
I really want to specify a time goal too.
Here's how it would work. Specify an average pace over a specific distance e.g. 4min30 per km over 10km (for ease you could also specify a total time over a specified distance)
Ideally you could have several goals at the same time. e.g. 3min for 1km, 21 min for 5km, 44 min for 10km
Then runkeeper sits and waits for you to upload data. When it gets a new run, it looks to see if you have met any of your goals within splits measured. (or got close).
The fantastic thing about doing it this way, is that a you don't need to stop and start runkeeper like a stopwatch to measure your pace over 5km.
You can start your run, slowly warming up, doing 5k, and then slowing down, recording all your mileage, but runkeeper does the "heavy lifting" of calculating if you have met your goal in the middle of your run.
Sorry - this system seems to eat paragraphs, hope you can read my comment,!
Ok- the sort of thing I asked for is present in rival app/community strava.com. After each activity, it neatly works out your fastest 1km, 5km 1mile, 100m etc. etc. from within all your way points.
Can you do something like that. To save me having to move across ?
I promise to buy an elite subscription if you implement something like that. Seriously.
+1 on Stephens comment.
and on Bradley's! I want to create specific goals for mountainbiking!
I set a walking goal but I'm showing zero progress after a 2.3KM of walking and I choose walking as the activity.
One more for combining distance with pace for your goals - and one more for tracking MTB goals
In addition to the numerous request for Mountain Biking goals I would like to add the request for the ability to set Skating goals.
I keep track of my skating (inline) pretty much the same as a cyclist: distance, time, average pace, ... and would love to be able to use the Goal feature in the same way.
Can we add a Goal for Wheelchair? I would like to set my goals based on my activity tracking my wheelchair use.
It would be nice that moutain bike could count to cycling goals.
Just like Nelson I'd like the goals to be a little more complex, that would make it useful.
Would be great to be able to add an avg speed over a distance!!
I'd like to be able to set a time goal for a distance. Any possibility of getting that added as an option?
I miss a Goal with distance on time (ex. 5km / 30 min.)
+1 on goal with distance on time. a very common type of goal.
I set a goal and then my activities aren't counting towards it. Anyone else had the same problem or know how to fix? Thanks
Would be good if we could set a goal for other activities, like skating a distance x by date y.
what I'd really really think would add value to the app is the possibility to add combined goals, e.g. distance + pace, so for instance: to run 10K at an average pace of 5min/km. Do you expect to have it introduced?
