Android
Pairing your BTLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) to your Android device is as simple as following these steps:
- Read your HRM manual to see where to attach the device (chest/wrist/arm). Make sure it is on tight enough so it won't slip!
- Open up your phone settings and turn on Bluetooth (for BTLE HRM connections, make sure your device is NOT paired with your phone already. If your device is set to connect automatically to your phone when Bluetooth is enabled, you may need to "forget the device").
- Open up the Runkeeper app and go to the Me tab.
- From the Me tab go to your Runkeeper app settings by selecting the gear icon at the top right corner of the page and click on Apps and Devices.
- Then select Devices and Hardware. From here click Search Devices and allow Runkeeper to search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
- Once you grant permission to allow Runkeeper to search for nearby Bluetooth devices, you will be able to view accepted heart-rate Bluetooth devices that are ready for pairing.
7. Click on your desired device to start pairing to Runkeeper. If paired successfully, your device will
show as connected and a heart rate icon will appear on your Start tab in the bottom right corner
above your activity settings.
8. If you want your audio cues to include your heart rate information, go into your Activity Settings
which you can access by selecting the gear icon at the top left side of your Start screen.
9. Click Audio Stats from the settings page and select the metrics you would like the app to
announce.
10. Go back to the Start tab and start your activity!
11. Once you are finished with your activity you can view a summary of your heart rate data.
12. Simply click on the Charts tab and you can see a graph of your heart rate vs. your elevation and
pace! (If you do not see your heart rate information right away, simply return to the previous
screen and then revisit the Charts tab).
*Runkeeper attaches your HRM data to GPS points so we can track your heart rate at each distance of your activity! Therefore you must be outdoors with a GPS signal to track your heart rate*
iPhone
Pairing your BTLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) to your iOS device is simple when you follow these steps:
- Read your HRM manual to see where to attach the device (e.g. your chest, wrist, or arm). Make sure it is on tight enough so it won't slip!
- Open up your phone settings and turn on Bluetooth.
- Within the Runkeeper app, click on the Me tab and then select the Settings gear icon in the top right-hand corner.
- On the Settings tab, select Apps and Devices.
- Under the Pair Additional Devices header, choose Devices & Hardware.
- On the next page, select Heart Rate Monitor, and your device will begin to pair.
- If you are unable to connect your device to the Runkeeper app, please ensure that the Runkeeper app has permission to access Bluetooth from your device. You can find this option in your device's system settings for the Runkeeper app.
8. To confirm your HRM is paired with Runkeeper, navigate to the Start tab in the Runkeeper app and locate the heart icon in the top right-hand corner. If you see this heart icon, you are good to go!
9. If you want your audio cues to include your heart rate information, go into your app Activity Settings before you track an activity with your HRM.
10. Scroll to the Coaching section and make sure Audio Stats is toggled on. Next, click Which Stats? and scroll to the bottom of the audio stats list to see the three heart rate stats you can choose to hear while tracking your activity; toggle your desired audio cue stats on.
11. Once you are finished with your activity, you will also be able to view a summary of your heart rate data. To do so, simply click on the Charts tab and you will see a graph of your heart rate among other stats. If you do not see your heart rate information right away, try returning to the previous screen and then revisit the Charts tab again.
