We're seeing some issues with Android devices, particularly Samsung, putting extra restrictions on apps that run in the background like Runkeeper.
We are exploring adjusting different Android settings causing Runkeeper to not record while backgrounded. Please try disabling both:

1. Adaptive battery
2. Put apps to sleep
*You can do so via this link--choose your phone type and follow the instructions:
If using SAMSUNG, please try the following:
  • Disable Put unused apps to sleep
  • Disable Auto-disable unused apps
  • Remove Runkeeper from the list of sleeping apps
  • Disable background restrictions for your app
Here's how:
1. Start Device care
from phone settings
2. Tap Battery at the bottom
3. Tap the 3-dot menu in the top right > Settings
4. Disable all toggles
(except Notifications)
5. Tap Sleeping apps
6. If Runkeeper is on this list of Sleeping apps, delete it from the list.
