Dynamic Warm Up & Cool Down Durations

Currently, we have standard warm up & cool down durations set to 5 minutes, but have heard through the grapevine that some people would like to change this to their own setting.

Some people have also requested warm up and cool down options for training plans workouts.

Let us know below if you think this would be helpful and how you'd like to see this implemented!

Would be useful, default times are good, but an editable field to change the number of minutes for both is a plus

Yes, please allow the users to change the warm up/cool down durations. I find the 5 minute default restrictive when trying to create interval workouts. Thank you from the UK.

Would be really helpful, especially for beginners, as the warm up is harder than the first intervals you have to do...

My running group warms up by walking several blocks from our parking area to the place where we break into groups and begin our various intervals. The walk it the warm-up, but it isn't a set duration. Some are faster than others, some take a different route. But we wait for everyone to arrive before beginning the run. I would like to start recording my progress when we begin walking, but wait to start my intervals until we are ready to do so. Using the app only during the run means that I am not recording approx 1 mile of walking. The best-case scenario for me would be if I could use the controls on my headphones to signal the start of the interval training. Maybe click and hold the volume down button? Double click? I don't know. I just know that I am missing a significant portion of my workout by not having dynamic warm-up/cool-down periods. Thank you.

Absolutely, even adding a way to start the warm up, then manually starting the workout (or interval set) would be great.

I would prefer to have the choice of changing the warm-up and cool down options or be able to disable it from the training programs.

Yes, please allow us to create our own warm up and coold down duration times. And please make them independent of each other so we can have a 3 minute warm up and a 1 minute cool down as an example. Thank you.

I would like to be able to adjust my own warm-up and cool-down period. First of all, personally 5 minutes is not enough time to properly warm up. Second, if I want to warm up longer, this would not be included in my stats, and I want to track all of my training, also the duration. The most important here would be able to adjust the warm-up. The cool-down does not really matter since it will still track after the cool-down time has expired.

Yes, definitely agree!! Would love to have an option to set the warmup/cooldown just like you can set other elements of the workout-- by time or by distance.

It would be great if you could please make warm-up's an optional part of your training plans - turn them off or adjust the length of time or distance for a warm-up.

Trying to go for a run on a new plan and going out of my mind trying to remove the warm-up! Thank you!

Yes please! Especially early in the morning, straight from bed, I need more than 5 minutes to warm up/wake up ;-)

Also I would love it, if the warming up time will not added in the stats.

Yes, please. I was googling to figure out if it was possible to do this with runkeeper, and found this page instead.

I would very much like such a feature as well. And the possibility to enable warm-up and cool-down to existing workout. Right now there does not seem to be a way to activate these features under workout options in today's scheduled plan. Normally I am not ready to go from couch to full speed running without a little walk to get a bit of momentum. Thank you.

My request was removed that requested help for ENABLING THE 5 MINUTE WARMUP/COOLDOWN IN TRAINING PLAN WORKOUTS. I was directed by an answer here (and sorry for yelling, just trying to make my point across), which is a completely different thing. I LIKE the 5 minute warmup and cool-down. I just can't ENABLE them for a Training Plan workout.

Any help appreciated (especially since my own request was removed)

OK, this is something worthwhile. I'm almost 57 and a 5 minute warm-up is useless, I need 10-15 minutes to get mobile enough to run. Alternatively I could just move to a warmer climate, but that isn't an option at the moment. Dynamic warm ups please.
