Personalized Weekly Workouts

The RK Community seems very interested in personal training plans that take a look at your goals & performance then suggest a training plan based on this information. We love this idea!

We want to gather a bit more information around the specific features that you'd find most helpful in a feature like this. For example, do you want a plan for a specific goal with an end date (ie run a marathon) or would you like an infinite plan? Would you like to create your own workouts within this plan or would you like us to suggest workouts? Do you want to adjust your workout days to specific days of the week?

Let us know what you'd like to see most in a dynamic training plan in the comments and don't forget to up-vote!

The current plans are good but it would be better if they were slightly more dynamic - for example, an 18 week program rather than a 16 week program... or a program that djusts automatically to a break midway because of injury.

Just found out about the training plan today. It is a great option, I picked the sub 3:45 Marathon training. It's going to be awesome but its a little to rigid for my taste. I was redirected here to wonder if 2 things could be improved.

  • The end date are set on saturdays only, my race is schedule the Monday June 1st.
What can I do to have my training plan fit this goal ?

  • The training plan schedule my running intervals every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday but I would prefer run Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday instead ? How can I change that ?

Thanks in advance to see if you could implement these little customisations. Other than , RunKeeper works like a charm!

Thanks thanks thanks ;)

I would like to design my own training plan. Now that I have completed my first half marathon I would like to have a steady training programme with three different trainings per week? I would like to organize this myself in Runkeeper.

Hey RunKeeper team! Thanks for your wonderful app. I'd like to second the other people here and say that I would greatly benefit from customized training plans. I use RK for triathlon training, but have to design and maintain my training schedule in a separate app. I'd love the flexibility to design a plan from scratch to suit my needs. I'd even pay for the Elite version for this capability.

I know many others want this too:https://support.runkeeper.com/hc/communities/public/questions/200839457-Plan-my-own-training

Thanks!

Yes this feature makes it possible for people to make plans tailored to their own form. We can cooperate with a personal trainer to make the perfect plan and mix between different workouts and intensity. I also have bought the sleep cycle app and it would be nice if data from this app could be used in the planning in some way ?

I'd like for the ability to build my own plans for something like an ultramarathon. I can plug in my race start date and my schedule would get built out based on the training schedule I plugged in.

I'd be happy if we could just change the days of the workouts. Tuesday and Thursday work for me, but Sunday doesn't, and Tuesday is better for long runs for me than weekends. I know I can just do the workouts on different days, but it's annoying and I always forget what I'm supposed to be doing because I have to add or subtract days.

I just downloaded the app and signed up for the beginner 5k training plan. As other users have mentioned though, it looks a bit rigid for my taste, I'd like to have some leeway in moving dates around (eg: starting tomorrow instead of today, Sunday. Tuesdays are generally bad for be to run so pushing Tuesday's run to Wednesday). OR i'd like to be able to create and input my own custom plan where I can maybe draw inspiration from the existing plan but build it around my own schedule.
Thanks! Hope this makes sense...and more importantly...hope this is relevant to what you're asking.

I would really like for the flexibility to build my own schedule and plan. Cookie cutter plans are nice but they don't work for everyone, especially ultra distance or multisport athletes.

I would like to be able to start my training schedule on a different weekday.
I just started a 10K training where the runs are scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-Sunday.
I would like my schedule to be Monday-Wednesday-Friday-Saturday

As a runner who has completed one of your workout plans, I felt that there wasn't an effective on-ramp to what I should be doing next. Something as simple as "Congratulations, you rocked that plan! Make sure you keep it up: here are some recommended training plans for you to start next!" It just... ended and felt anticlimactic. Nothing at all from the "Trainer" either at any point in the plan.

And then when I did choose another 61 session plan, it started with "2 mi slow"... what a let down since I had just spent 2 months building up to "7mi fast"! That's when you should be personalizing a workout for me by analyzing my times and distances (and HR?) and presenting logical next steps.

AND, +1 for you infinite plan idea. I would like to keep training infinitely, then let you know when I decide to run in a race so that the plan can adjust as needed.

I am currently doing one of the plans (the sub 65min 10K), but once that race is over, there are no plans that would provide suggestions for weekly runs without a goal (i.e. weight loss, or a race) at the end. I think it would be great to have an option that was somewhat customizable (an "infinite plan" as suggested above) where you could suggest workouts with the goal of maintenance of running distance and speed, but with a few sprints or longer distances or something thrown in to keep it mixed up.

I stopped using a programme and am using custom workouts because the weather here is extremely unpredictable: nearly 50 degrees C at a certain day, followed by dust storms that send everyone spending too much time outside straight to the ER. I found the existing workouts just too complicated to use under those circumstances.

The most important to me is to have possibility to adjust workout planning. For example, by just drag and drop workout to the next day or later. All future workouts could be postponed if I want.

Sounds interesting, though one thing with the normal training plans I hate is that they seem to be fixed by date and are difficult to move without messing up the whole rest of the training plan. I live in a country where unpleasant weather might easily result in a visit to the ER, thus I'd need the flexibility to move training days around easily and not with the current rather complicated system.

I could actually imagine a simply button that would export the whole training to my own custom workouts. Then I'm not stuck with the calendar anymore and can do the workout at my own speed.

Otherwise, personalized weekly workouts sound interesting.

1- create personal training plans on the WEB application with a calendar, with a cell phone it's not easy and if we have to re install the RunKeeper app we lost all the training plans

2- keep personal training plan record in the application WEB let me explain (ii want to find my personal training plans in TRAINNING -> Current Training Plans).

3- share training plan with another person

4- have possibility to adjust workout planning. For example, by just drag and drop workout to the next day or later. All future workouts could be postponed if I want.

  1. I would LOVE if the existing plans could be started at any day - not all of us have mon-friday-work weeks. Maybe it was more like "We recommend 3 times/week" and then I could "check them off". So some weeks it's 4 times, some it's two times... but I can actually move them around to meet my schedule better.
  2. It would be really great also if I could get suggestions from my goals.
  3. End date, not end date... depends on what I'm looking for at the moment. For me it's mostly about counting miles and getting better times and that takes the time it does, but it would be great with end dates also.

+1 for the infinity plan and I would love it if the plan considered HR performance and offered HR zone training instead of just 'slow-steady-fast'

I'm the type of person who likes to push for achievable goals. The awesome thing about your current training plans is that they have an end. I'd eventually get bored if I kept doing the same thing indefinitely.

I would be all about a feature that could analyze my runs and suggest workouts to specifically improve my weaknesses. As a beginner, I don't know enough to really make the best choices for what I need to improve.

I personally am fine with a predictable scheduler setting up my workout dates for me, but I can definitely see a reason to have an option saying "I'd only like to run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays" and have the app arrange the workout schedule accordingly.

I'd like to be able to create personalised training plans in RunKeeper. I got a great marathon training plan from Matt Fitzgerald, but I'd like to put that in RK with a calendar to track my performance against the plan.

Personalised training plans are a great idea. Also, some suggested plans for other sports, e.g. cycling, swimming etc, would be great too. Thanks.

I'd like to be able to specify what days of the week I'll be able to run, which day of the week to do speed work, which day to do long run.

This: "Do you want to adjust your workout days to specific days of the week?" - is really important for me. It's the only reason I'm still leaning towards Endomondo.

I would like to be able to create my own workouts. My personal trainer told me he wants me to get 4 interval cardio workouts/week 25 minutes each, with intervals of 2 minutes at 70-80% and 1 minute 90-100% throughout the run. It would be nice to be able to load up a 25 minute workout that would prompt me when it's time to sprint versus slow down and give audio cues of my heart rate, etc. at the end of each interval.

In addition to that, I'm supposed to do 3 strength training workouts. I would also like it if those different types of workouts could be sent to MyFitnessPal separately since MFP does differentiate between cardio and strength training.

As a specific example, I'd like to do the 23 week half marathon plan and then set a personal goal or simultaneous custom training plan to cross train 2 days/week.

Please give the option to add workout day sometimes it is possible to run 3 times per week, other two... i change my plan from 2 workouts to 3 and i end my last custom plan. I make another but it is not possible to link completed workouts with new plan... is it possible to ignore it and go to next one?
