Custom Audio Cues

Audio cues are one of the most important features during your tracking experience. If you were given the ability to have custom audio cues, what kinds of things would you like to hear during your run?

For example, would you like different cues or info for different activities? Different voices or speeds? How about motivational content during the activity? Let us know all of your custom audio cue ideas!

Runkeeper is my #1 sports tracker. I use it for a lot of sports like running, cycling, walking, rowing and skating. Your app has had a serious influence on my sporting habits and encourages my much. Still I believe Runkeeper can become better.
As you see I’m a omnisportsman. All types of activities have many things in common, but differences too. They require different basal settings. What Runkeeper can do better is to remember the settings for every individual type of sport.

Let me try to be clearer. When I do cycling I am interested in other Audio Cues then when I do rowing. Also the volume and Audio Timing requirements are different, Auto Pause is on for both. When I walk I do not need to hear any progress (So Autio Timing > On Demand Only) and Auto Pause is set off.

I wont bother you with more examples. Would it be an idea to add “Sports profiles” to your settings? When I change from, e.g. Running to Cycling, all settings will be changed automatically to my favorite. That would take me less time and less frustrations too. Did you know that one cannot change the volume during an activity?

It would be really handy to have audio cues as part of "favourites" by activity. e.g. I really like the audio cues for running. But I turn off the music and audio cues for mountain biking and set the "primary display" to "speed". So when I choose running it should default to my preference for running. Then when I choose mountain biking it should adjust all my defaults.

For interval training super helpful:
- editable countdown for warm-up/intervals
- indication of the speed of the last accomplished interval
(right now i use a watch in addition to runkeeper to know if I e.g. in a 5*1k interval training hit the speed I want to accomplish on the intervals)

I'd like to see audio cues during intervals at 25%, 50% and 75% of the interval duration or length.

I would like the countdown to give a 10 to 1 countdown. I use a 60 second countdown as I use the time to put my iPhone 6 plus into my Spibelt. It would be great to have vocal 10 second countdown.

For me very simple, I would like to hear every kilometer, how long it took for me (aka average speed of last km).
Sort of split times, but the term split is already used, but this is just current speed at the split, quite confusing.

I would like to be able to shorten the duration of the speaker, perhaps drop some of the words. Like Instead of saying current pace..(too long of a pause here)...15 minutes 24 seconds, just say currentpace 15(very slight pause)24. I usually listen to podcast and feel the cues could be much faster....

I would like to be able to manage interval training with the proper audio cues and stats. This would mean cues at the beginning or end of the interval and according to the normal setting also within the interval. Also means referring to an interval rather than 1km as the "split" unit so the proper pace can be managed ("current interval pace: ...").
For example for 3 x 2kms interval with 2 minutes in between, I would expect to get cues for the first 2K normally (say every 2 minutes), then tell me exactly when I reach 2K and give me the interval stats, start measuring 2 minutes, then start measuring another 2K and so on.
Currently I use RK cues for the running interval, pause RK at the end of every interval and measure the time with my watch - very inconvenient.
While we're at it, often intervals are 400/600/800 meters and the current distance cues can't handle it, forcing me to look at the phone to know the distance. You can either add an option to enter a customized distance cue (400 meters for example) or do it automatically based on a planned workout.
And half related - consider only the actual interval for stats, not the walk/slow run in between intervals.
Overall this would give a great package for interval training which requires the most attention and "management" during the training for time and pace. This probably means RK needs to become aware of the intervals as a unit for stats, cues and so on. this would be great.
thank you.

I would like to see more granular controls over audio cues. Specifically, I would like to be able to set different cues for each interval of my run.

For example, when I do sprinting intervals, I would like to hear my top speed and average speed at the end of the interval, then on the slow recovery intervals, I don't want any audio cues, except maybe a notification 10 seconds before the next fast interval.

I'd like to be able to hear the current time of day. Map My Fitness has that, and it's proven extremely helpful.

I'd like to be able to hear the current time of day during the audio cue as well like MapMyRun. Plus, is there a way to make the audio cue speak faster like on MapMyRun or add an option for faster speaking audio cues and the standard one?

It would be great to have the intervals number in the audio cues, like a voice tell us you are doing Intervals number 3

I'd really like one that tells me when I'm halfway (either for time on time-based workouts, or distance for distance-based workouts). I run out-and-back routes most of the time.

I run for 10 minutes and walk for 1. I'd use custom audio queues to tell me when it's time to walk and when it's time to run.

I would prefer not to need to look at my watch. If I could have a consistent HR every minute and other data at longer intervals I'd leave the watch at home.

after being barked at by miss crankypants, "Time. Five. Minutes." i only have one request: replace miss crankypants with lori petty's tank girl. waaaay more motivating. and way less bored/grouchy.

During different parts of the activity would be great. I tend to downgrade to walking when I should be running, then forget to pump it up as soon as I'm rested. A reminder is great.

I would love a sime one, Time of Day. I run before work and at lunch and I often don't check the time and this is something that mapmyfitness has. That app isn't as polished or as runkeeper, but that's a feature that I really appreciated.

Please add a cue / option for the "Activity Paused" and "Activity Resumed" phrases. On long walks w/ my dogs, these are firing all the time (if you walk dogs, you know why), and I don't want to hear them. There isn't an option for that, only to turn off Audio Cues entirely... which isn't what I want as I do want to hear the time/distance cues.

On the training plans that have running intervals, I had assumed that there was a cue to tell you to run faster for 20 seconds, then run slow. I was really disappointed when it didn't happen. I don't want to watch the clock, I'm clumsy I need to watch where I'm going.

I agree with the request to shorten audio cues. For instance, I use the audio cue to alert me at every mile to see what my time is. I disabled the distance cue because I can keep track of my number of miles run, so all I hear is current time spent. It takes too long for the vice to get through this. A simple 5:06 would be great. I know it's a time. I would also like the ability to disable the workout summary. I can easily read the information on the screen at this point.

I like to map out new runs all the time to change things up. I think it would be nice if I could plan a route and have it tell me when and where to turn like a GPS.

I would like an option to announce the time of day, with settings at hour, half hour, and quarter hour. I know I can use other programs to use this, but since I bike to work, it is important to know if I am on schedule. Thanks,

I would like to further customize audio cues, choosing different interval between audio cueses, e.g. first cues after x minutes and others after y minutes, and choosing different information to hear at different conditions, e.g. every x minutes time and distance but after y minutes or after z km current pace and current speed
