I'd like to be able to choose more than one route on a workout. On longer runs I end up using parts of different routes, and I'd like to see how my stats relate. Thanks!

I would be able to select a route (as in a hike) and if I am going the wrong direction it will tell me. Also, I would like it to tell me to veer or turn right or left etc. within so many feet (can be set by user). Possible? Hopefully.

:: I wish Runkeeper would enable a "reverse/switch" functionality for saved routes, to easily and properly account for elevation gain/drop for MANUALLY-logged activity. I'd like to use the app more for hiking/backpacking/nordic-walking, but limited battery-life of phone is problematic for tracking the entire time (issue w/ ultra-distance folks, too?). I'm aware that RK does properly track this if you select a route and run it in reverse, but it would be great to still designate "reverse" for MANUALLY-logged activity (due to the above), w/o having to create multiple Saved Routes.

I export my hiking activities and planned future routes to Google Earth so I can see them all on the same map and plan my hikes. It would help if I could export routes to a KML file, but I don't think I can do that unless I create a new activity, use the route for that activity and then export the KML from the Activities page. Then I delete the activity and hide anything that was added to my Dashboard during this process. It would be so much easier if I could export a KML directly from the Routes page.

I'd like to be able to import a route into a race (when creating a race), and vice-versa (before running the race).

I would like to be able to import/export routes as gpx. When I take an activity, make it a route and modify some paths, I owuld like to be able to share with co-runners so only one does the job.

I just posted a feature request on this...

Alphabetical sorting would be nice in my opinion as it's sometimes a pain to find a route if you have a long list of existing routes.

In addition, adding a "Master Location" to routes would enable you to group your routes ( if you have an extensive list ) based on that location ( a city, a town, a Park, a Sports complex, etc. ).

You can even add a drop down arrow to open routes linked that Location or hide them ( like in the activities & grouping per month ).

I would like for you to install a button that simply creates a return route from one direction I have already put in. I think your "retrace route" above is what I am looking for. Please install. That is an important one, because to have to retrace it myself is too time consuming.

P.S. If you look at all of the bells and whistles that RunningAhead has in their log, which was taken I believe from the Runner's World log, those types of features on the Internet portal are kind of the basics of what is needed. What I love about your service is the tracking feature when I'm running. That's great. I was in the Verdugo Mountains this evening and was probably out of cell range, so it didn't track me properly. That's why I had to input manually and discovered the request that I wanted tonight. Thank you.

Hi,
I found the route maps a bit small (no landscape view mode).
I would also appreciate to access the routes in the "Me" menu and not just through "Start". A plus when reviewing history and planning an activity.
On the web, I also like the feature of creating new route. Not possible on a mobile if I'm correct.
Thanks

Sort options are needed. At a minimum, to be able to sort Routes by Distance, Alphabetically and Date added

most of the time i choose my route during the run.
it would be great, if RK could detect the route among my saved routes after workout, if it is saved there.
no post-editing anymore.

I'd like to be able to duplicate routes. Most of my routes are going to be variations of near distances starting from the same handful of locations. Duplicating routes would allow me to create something like templates, so I don't have to keep creating the same beginning or end every time.

I'd also like to be able to add points within a route. That way if I get through my route and realize it isn't far enough, I can add a detour!

Finally, I'd love to be able to create a route based on a distance I'd like to go, and then incorporate my other two suggestions.... So in other words, say I know I want to run for exactly 6 miles. I enter a start point, a mid point, and an end point, and the map approximates a 6 mile route for me. Then I can tweak it based on the details- say I want to guide the route along the river instead of a busy street- that's where editing points would also come in handy. (Another app has this but it's very limited in other features!) Thank you!! :)

I think that with a few tweaks, Routes could be one of Runkeeper's most useful features. Searching for a route is a great way to learn something new about your neighbourhood, or discover a new neighbourhood or even a new country, but the current UX is clunky and raises major privacy concerns.

To search for a new route, I enter a city name or zip/postal code and a distance, and this returns a list of users who have routes that match my specifications. This is inconvenient, because it prioritises information about who made a route over the information about the route itself—I have to click to see the actual route, which could be several miles away from me. It doesn't matter to me that users X, Y and Z run in the area I searched in, I just want to know about running routes. Furthermore, because most people start and/or end their runs at home, the current approach to searching basically provides a database of where Runkeeper users live. Obviously this is inappropriate.

Runkeeper's solution to this problem is to allow you to set your routes to private. Presumably this means that Runkeeper has a lot more routes on file than users are able to search. This limits the usefulness of the searchable database of routes.

Here are my suggestions for improving Routes.
1. Anonymise search results and make all routes searchable. My routes could still be visible on my profile (if set to public or visible to friends), but this information would not be accessible via search.
2. Display search results on a map, rather than in a list. This would be especially useful on a mobile device (e.g. search near my location), where Routes has never really been implemented.
3. Automatically extract routes from people's activities.
4. Add a 'Discover' feature: aggregate user data to find where and when runners tend to overlap, then put these results on a map to reveal popular running routes in a given area. For example: "123 Runkeeper users like to run in this park", "this route is popular with nighttime runners," "see photos taken by users on this route."

I would like to be able to reorder my routes and also create sub folders by location or activity type. That way I could have specific routes open that apply to the location or activity. For example, I have bike routes, kayak routes, running routes, etc. But if it's winter, I'd like to hide the kayak routes.

The option to snap GPS measurement to route will be great. I often come across heavy GPS errors in spite of all FAQ steps taken before running. Something like leaving the lengthwise coordinate change (along the route) as is and compensating the transverse change to stay on track for some extent.

I would LOVE to be able to rearrange my routes. At this moment I have 18 created but only use 4 or 5 regularly, it would be nice to move these to the top. I have a handful that I've created to use as a potential guide on future hikes, and then I have several I no longer use, or use extremely rarely. It would be nice to regroup each of these.

I would like to the splits broken down further, i.e. 10nths of a mile would be great. I do sprints and would like to see data on that. Thanks.

The application should identify if the route I just ran corresponds to one of the saved routes, if so it should be automatically categorized to this route. I should also be able to filter my stats to a certain route, so I can compare all runs along that route.

When I view a route and the activities I have run on that route, they are currently only sorted by ascending total duration. I would like to be able to resort those activities by either date or pace or total mileage.

I would really love to be able to move my most used routes up to the top, or be able to group them - I have so many saved routes (many are variations of the same route) and it's getting time consuming to scroll through and find the one I am looking for

As an Australian user, it is so difficult to find races and routes using either search feature. You guys should really make the searching easier for us international users and all users in general.
Perhaps you could:
- add some more search fields like country,
- add a better thumbnail of the map so you don't have to click on a route/race to find out its not the one you're after,
- add a description search so its easier to locate local parkrun routes that other users have created so I don't need to create my own,
- provide a map view of results so its easier to locate routes and races by viewing a map,
- or anything else that will make finding races and routes less painful.
Thanks very much!

I would like to see mileage markers added to existing routes, similar to what we see after we have just completed a run. This would help in choosing a route, or portion of a route, to run when you are not able to run the whole route, or want to blend it with another. Thanks for all you do!

I would LOVE to reorder my routes. I have a few favourite routes which I use often, but I have to hunt for them every time as they are all jumbled up. Thank you!!

I would like there to be a feature that allows me to indicate that I ran a route twice/thrice/etc. instead of just once.
