Auto sync with Garmin Connect

I'm using tapiriik to sync with Garmin Connect (which is getting data from my 220) and RK but I'd rather want both Garmin Connect and RK auto sync directly. I heard Strava, Mapmyfitness and Edomondo are doing the auto sync. Come on, RK can do it too!

Hey Kaoru, thanks for reaching out to Runkeeper! We're working on this integration as we speak and hope to have it implemented soon. Keep an eye out :)

Garmin is such a widely used device for runners/cyclists. Would really like to see my data on Runkeeper without my phone dying on me. Would also like to use Garmin Connect to see my data on Runkeeper because the overall aesthetic is nicer compared to other running apps.

I'm also using Tapiriik and Strava at the moment for all runs with my Garmin, but I'm also a fan of the RK stats and usability. Therefore, it would indeed be nice to sync data from Garmin Connect directly to RK, without the need for tapiriik. Thumbs up for RK + Garmin.

Unfortunately, I found out that when the data from GC synced to RK, due to the algorithm (different format of the data?), there is a huge difference in the data that is transferred to RK :( RK staff told me when they create a program to auto sync from GC to RK, this problem won't be resolved either. So disappointed.

I'm surprised by this, since tapiriik seems to be able to handle the sync between the two. It's never EXACT but off by a couple seconds is never an issue with me. The maps and distances and whatnot are usually correct. This is disappointing.

If you are running non-stop like in a race, I don't think it's an issue. But if you have to stop the GPS watch bc of the traffic light etc., then this would happen (below is the answer I got from RK)

We recently changed the way we import GPX files - when we were detecting pauses in an activity, we noticed that the algorithm often detected too many pauses, many of which were not in the correct places. Therefore, we made the decision to stop calculating pauses in GPX files, so that people would no longer lose their activity data due to a false pause in an activity.

Our current GPX import software does not recognize pause info contained in a GPX file, but our TCX import does (assuming there are pauses in the TCX file). Therefore, if it's an option for you, we recommend exporting and importing TCX files if you want pauses from an activity to be recognized by the importer.

That makes sense - I did notice the pauses were not calculated when I had them. Understandable, I guess. Guess I'm keeping with tapiriik!

My sync was working until 9/13 - tapiriik. I too would like to see better native integration between Garmin/Runkeeper. There should be no need for a thrird party..... just work together.... very frustrating....

Runkeeper is importing my garmin activities, but is classifying everything as runs, instead of classifying my bike rides as such. Can this be fixed?

Right now the sync is poor.
Sometimes it syncs, sometimes it doesn't.
Also the HR graph is full of straight lines.
Also there is not Temperature and Cadence/ Pod graph

My Cycling activities from Garmin are being synced in RK as running activities. :(
Is there any configuration where I could adjust it?
Thanks...

Garmin + RK is working; however, all my activities are being classified as "runs". ???

was there ever an update to this? having a complicated work around just to share between two popular training apps seems nuts.

Updating...
My Cycling activities from Garmin are being synced in RK as running activities, and the HR graph is two straight lines. :(
My Running activities from Garmin do not sync with RK :(
Is there any configuration where I could adjust it?
Thanks...

I still see the same issue on my RK. RK records my garmin bike activity as a run activity. Is this going to be fixed?

Hi Molly,

I came across Kaoru's posting because I too have this question/concern/suggestion -- please have RK autosync with Garmin Connect. You responded that RK was working on the integration...but that was in 2015. It's now 2017. Please let me know when to expect this connection.

Thank you.
